Spay the Way!
Minnesota’s biggest giving day of the year is less than a month away!! As we approach Give to the Max Day on November 17th we are feeling the excitement and energy as we expand our mission to spay and neuter our way out of the tide of homeless cats and dogs! You can be a part of our mission by scheduling your donation in advance (before November 1st) by clicking here!
The results are clear, the more access there is to spay and neuter, the fewer animals there are in shelters, needing rescue and suffering on the streets.
The science shows that spay and neuter, despite myths, does not affect animals’ energy levels or change their personalities. Spaying eliminates the stress and discomfort that females endure during heat periods, eliminates the risk of uterine cancer, and greatly reduces the risk of mammary cancer. Neutering makes males far less likely to roam or fight, prevents testicular cancer, and reduces the risk of prostate cancer. (per specialist Daniel Crane) Altered animals are less likely to contract deadly, contagious diseases that are spread through bodily fluids, such as feline AIDS and leukemia, and most importantly will NOT add to an already overflowing population of homeless companion animals.
The one-time cost of spaying or neutering is far less than the costs involved in raising puppies or kittens (which include food, shots, training, and ongoing vet care). The cost that communities must pay toward animal control and euthanasia is 10 times that of spay/neuter AND vaccinations! Low cost or free spay/neuter clinics encourage pet parents to be responsible before they are faced with an unwanted litter and before the animals themselves must pay with their lives.
With your support we will better the future for countless companion animals from MN to Mexico while also improving communities these animals live in. But we need YOU to make this happen. Please consider supporting Pet Project Rescue on Give to the Max Day on November 17th!
